St Gilbert of Caithness

Kirk Road,

 Lochinver

Like many of the villages in the Northwest of Scotland, the local economy relies on fishing and tourism.  Lochinver lies on the shores of Loch Inver.  The village and local area has produced several remarkable people of note, and more can be found about these on the Lochinver area website.

Advance Notice for Easter 2019
I know it seems a long way ahead, but this is a message about arrangements for Easter (21st April).

Palm Sunday: We were due to hold a service on Palm Sunday (as in years past), but this year it coincides with the one-day Festival of the Sea, organised by the Coigach-Assynt Living Landscape.  As I expect many of you will wish to attend this, there will be no Palm Sunday service at Lochinver.  (Normal service will resume next year, Festivals of the Sea permitting.)
Please note: there will still be a Palm Sunday service that day at St Mary’s in Ullapool, at 10am.

Easter Sunday: The good news is that Bishop Mark will be with you for Easter Sunday.  He has very kindly agreed to come over, allowing me to see the four other services due to happen that day in the northwest.  In order to allow him time to get here from the services at the Cathedral, the start-time that day will be 3pm - that’s half and hour later than usual.

I am sorry if I have made a mess of your calendar or diary.  There will be further reminders of this in forthcoming news-letters.
The Congregation of St Gilbert of Caithness, meets at the Assynt Centre, which is a community centre in Kirk Road, Lochinver IV27 4LT.
